Need To Protect Your Precious Pearls?Keep Them in A Jewelry Safe

Jewels may not be to your taste, but if they were left to you by a relative who has since passed away, or you have bought them as an investment, they are almost certainly worth protecting in a specialized jewelry safe.

No matter how safe you believe your sock drawer to be as a hiding place, or how safe the neighborhood may be that you live in, when it comes to keeping precious jewels protected, nothing gives you more protection than a jewelry safe.

Here are some tips for securing your precious pearls, and keeping them safe from harm:

  • Store frequently worn items separately

Maybe you don’t like the expensive jewelry your late aunt gifted you, or are too afraid to wear the diamond ring that your partner bought you on your anniversary; whatever your reason for not wearing your expensive jewelry, make sure that it’s stored away from your everyday jewelry and kept as secure as possible.

For items you rarely wear, it makes sense to keep them in a high security jewelry safe, and if you have expensive items that you do like to wear frequently, these could be kept secure in a wall safe that you can easily access.

  • Choose the right jewelry safe for your needs

Some jewelry safes offer a higher level of security than others, and some can even be configured with lighting, so that you can clearly see your valuable items of jewelry – this can be especially helpful when selecting a jewel to match an outfit, for example.

However, whatever type of safe you choose, remember that this is the best and most reliable way of protecting your jewelry at home, and of keeping it from getting into the wrong hands.

  • Keep a small bowl for rings and earrings

It’s so easy to take a ring off and drop it, or lose the back of an earring down the sink, for example. By keeping small plates/bowls next to the sink or on your dressing table (or wherever you’re most likely to remove your jewelry) you can prevent such accidents from occurring, and keep your beloved items safe. You could also carry a small velvet pouch around with you during the day, in case you have to remove any of your jewelry during the day.

  • Always store your jewelry in a hotel safe

While we would all like to hope that a chambermaid won’t steal our expensive or precious jewelry from our hotel room, you just can’t be certain, and it can be very difficult to prove if that was the case. To prevent this from happening, store all valuable items in the hotel safe should you need to leave them in the room for any period of time when you’re not in there. In fact, should a cleaner or some other member of hotel staff enter your room while you’re busy in the bathroom or with your back turned to them, they may have the opportunity to steal an item of value they spot, and could easily slip it into their pocket, leaving you none the wiser.

It’s common knowledge that burglars target jewelry because it’s small and easy to sell, but you can make sure that the only person who gets to profit from your precious jewels, is you, by storing it in a high security jewelry safe.
